Berry Hill left the snowy peaks of Lakers Road for a warmer climate in Bristol to play Cleve. Travelling with a bare 15 due to injury and family engagements it was always going to be a tough job against last year's county cup finalists. Hill never looked to make a mark on the game and lacked the passion and focus they have showed on previous cup games. Cleve slowly notched up a series of tries which went unanswered except for a penalty by Ryan Dawson. A few players did step up to the challenge with Callum Wyman picking up Hill's man of match . Hopefully with players returning the final match of the county cup pool stage against Cheltenham will be a more entertaining affair.
Good to see Olly Morgan at the game . Hopefully he should be back in the side soon

Berry Hill 36 Old Richians 7
With a gap in the county cup schedule Hill played a friendly against long term rivals Old Richians. The game lacked the intensity of the previous cup matches but Hill still managed to clock up a series of tries to take the win. The first try came from the kicking maestro Ryan Dawson who found himself in unusual territory to touch down and then maximise the points. Richians however were straight on the counterattack and quickly levelled the score. This however was the last time they left their mark on the score line as Hill slowly ratcheted up the tries with breakways from William Lewis, Callum Wyman ,Ricky Davis and Cobi Robinson. Although this was not Hill's best performance they deserved the win and have some homework to focus on ready for the next county cup match away at Cleve. William Lewis was awarded Hill's man of the match even though his appetite for pickled eggs is not great.
Special mention to James Roberts who was injured from the St Marys game but was at the Match to cheer his team on

Berry Hill 20 St Marys 12
For their second group game in the County Cup Berry Hill travelled to Bristol to play St Marys. The 2 teams had only met once before last season and the game kicked off at a high pace as both teams sized each other up. St Marys were quicker out of the blocks and opened up the scoring in the first 4 minutes with a converted try. Hill however kept their focus and after pressuring St Marys for long periods mistakes crept in allowing Ryan Dawson to kick a penalty and Cobi Robinson to score in the corner. At half time Hill were ahead 10 -7 and now had the advantage of playing down the pitch. The pace never slowed with both teams having to give 100% defending and attacking but Hill again broke through with Ricky Davis touching down. As the clocked ticked away to full time the kicking skills of Ryan Dawson were called up again to score his second penalty and put the game beyond reach. Hill's player of the match was nominated by the referee with William Tyler picking up the accolade.
